Hedged High Income

Cavalier Hedged High Income Fund - Monthly Commentary - April 2019:

The Cavalier Hedged High Income Fund (CHIIX) maintained high yield exposure in April and kept off the hedged portion of the Fund’s high yield risk. The US High Yield market had positive performance as credit markets in the US were supported by the ‘risk on’ environment for higher risk assets. The Fund’s core holding Vanguard High Yield Fund (VWEHX) was up 1.50% in April and continues to make up approximately 70% of the Fund. Additionally, the Fund held approximately 7-8% SPDR Bloomberg Barclays High Yield Bond ETF (JNK), which was up 1.44% in April. The Fund also held approximately 11% of a floating rate preferred REIT (Preferred Apartment Communities Inc.) with a current coupon of 6%, priced to par at the beginning and end of the month. In April, the Fund also added several US large cap Growth Equities, making up approximately 7% of the portfolio and contributing approximately 0.35% to the Fund’s performance.  Overall, CHIIX closed the month up 1.49% MTD, outperforming the ICE Bank of America U.S. High Yield Index Benchmark, which closed the month at 1.40% MTD.
